Jar with Dragon and Winged Qilin Design
Imperial Museum Gallery > Ceramics > 5 Dynasties, Song
Jun yao jar, 9th year of Jiading reign (1216) mark, Southern Song Dynasty. | |
One of a kind Jun yao jar decorated with four lugs, dragon and 'winged' qilin on the upper part, bosses and lotus on the lower part. It also has inscription mark at the base which traslated: '9th year of Jiading reign' (year 1216). Althouch this jar looks worn out and dull(to some), but it is exceedingly important and will somehow re-write the existing history because it proofs that Jun Kiln does exist in Southern Song. |
